Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Oxygen is vital to everything your body does. Seal out the world and relax in our Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber, where you’ll be exposed to highly elevated levels of oxygen for one hour, leading to improved energy, reduced inflammation, accelerated healing, better immune function, and more!

  • HBOT involves the increase of oxygen and increase of pressure on the body. HBOT works by following a very simple and natural law of physics: more pressure allows more gas to easily dissolve in fluids. In this case, a hyperbaric chamber provides greater pressure onto the body, while the gases in the air, namely increased oxygen, begin supersaturating in the bloodstream (and reaching areas of the blood that weren’t originally accessible), enabling all cellular functions to increase. This results in accelerated healing in both chronic and acute conditions.

  • The first few minutes of laying in the chamber may feel similar to being on an airplane. You might feel pressure and popping in your ears as the chamber reaches pressure. This takes about 7-10 minutes. After the chamber is completely pressurized, you will no longer feel pressure and can relax, breathing in increased oxygen, for the programmed time for 60 minutes. Once your time is up, we will release the pressure in the chamber and you will be able to exit the chamber feeling refreshed and energized!

  • The benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy are numerous, however a few of the greatest benefits are:
    Increased energy levels

    • Strengthen tissue function

    • Increased energy

    • Provide treatment for “Long COVID”

    • Enhance athletic performance and recovery

    • Aid in mental illness

    • Pain reduction

    • Inflammation reduction

FAQ

  • An HBOT session includes various steps:

    1. The user enters the chamber and completely zips the chamber up. The chamber is pressurized to the prescribed pressure (usually lasts~7-10 minutes).

At the start and end of the session (during the pressurization and depressurization), the user will feel increased pressure on their ears, as if they’re talking on an airplane. The user will need to clear their ears.

    2. After the chamber is completely pressurized, the user will no longer feel pressure on their ears. They will reside at full pressure, breathing in increased oxygen, for the programmed time (60-120 minutes with US HBOT chambers).

    3. At the end of the session, the chamber will depressurize by the user or staff slightly opening the air pressure release valve (usually lasts ~7-10 minutes), the user (or staff) unzips the chamber, and the user steps out of the chamber. The therapy is finished.

  • Whether a patient lies or sits is dependent on the shape of the chamber. In our AIR chamber, patients have the option to either lie or sit. In our WING chamber (wheelchair accessible), the patient can roll their wheelchair and sit in the chamber.

  • HBOT is an extremely safe and non-invasive therapy with very little to no side effects. Operating soft-shelled chambers poses even less risk when compared to hard shells due to lower pressure levels, while still achieving the same results – our chambers operate at 1.3 ATA, which is the equivalent to being around 11 feet under water. We often have moms and their young kids in the chamber together without issue! The main contraindications include pregnancy, a ruptured eardrum, and a collapsed lung.

  • Electronics ARE allowed inside the chamber – whether that’s your laptop, cell phone, Airpods, etc. You DO NOT need to wear specific clothing - we recommend wearing something comfortable.

  • While we like our patients to relax as much as possible during their sessions, some of our patients do homework, work, and even take calls inside the chamber. Naps are encouraged in the chamber as well!

  • Item descriptionWhile some claustrophobic patients initially feel intimidated, we’ve found that having patients close their eyes or use headphones usually does the trick! Additionally, our chambers have several windows, which are designed to let in light and give a feeling of "openness".

  • No, patients cannot receive IV or ozone treatment while inside the chamber — the IV bag will burst under the pressure.

  • Yes, patients benefit from receiving targeted red light therapy and/or PEMF WHILE undergoing HBOT. We partner with top-of-the-line providers of targeted red-light therapy. All PEMF / red light products must be battery-powered.

  • Research has indicated that HBOT can be utilized for sports performance, recovery, AND injury recovery. HBOT can increase VO2max as well as decrease recovery times dramatically.
