Weber LED Helmet: Low-Level Laser Therapy for Your Brain

What is the Weber Helmet?

The Weber LED Helmet is a therapeutic device that is used to enhance brain function as well as treat brain-related illnesses and dysfunctions. Through the absorption of red/near-infrared light energy (a process known as “photobiomodulation”), the Weber Helmet is able to increase the brain’s mitochondrial ATP production (cellular energy), cell signaling, growth factor synthesis, and attenuate oxidative stress. In a nutshell, this non-invasive treatment increases blood flow within the brain, promotes healing, and improves oxygen availability.

How does the helmet work?

This treatment consists of near-infrared red light therapy and is non-invasive, painless, and non-thermal (does not generate heat). Using 320 diodes, it emits infrared light at 810 nm of wavelength, penetrating 4-5 cm past the skull and thereby accessing the brain tissue for therapeutic effects.

Patients wear the helmet for 1-30 minutes at varying intensities, depending on the clinical picture and health issue. Ideally, it should be worn 3 times/week (or sometimes daily), based on the individual and condition being treated.

What are some of the health benefits of using the Weber Helmet?

  • Enhances cerebral blood flow and lymphatic circulation

    • LED low-level laser therapy increases circulation by dilating the blood vessels within the brain, allowing for the delivery of more oxygen and nutrients. Anytime you increase circulation/nutrients, you enhance healing.

  • Improves oxygen availability

    • Disease states thrive on a lack of oxygen, particularly cancer. Enhancing oxygen availability means slowing disease progression and allowing more room for healing.

  • Stimulates energy production

    • Infrared red light therapy has been shown to increase ATP production (aka cellular energy). By enhancing cellular energy within the brain, neurons are able to detox and heal more easily, making it more difficult for disease to thrive.

  • Lowers inflammation

    • Inflammation is at the root of any and all health issues, especially within the brain. From depression and anxiety to concussions and traumatic brain injuries, the inflammatory cascade that is often ongoing within these conditions is detrimental to the brain and results in varying symptom profiles. Being able to inhibit the inflammatory cascade within the brain correlates with stopping the disease progression and, thereby, improves symptom profiles.

  • Promotes protective features of the brain, keeping neurons alive and healthier for longer periods of time

    • By enhancing antioxidant effects, the absorption of near-infrared light plays a significant role in improving the life cycle of neurons (aka neuroprotective effects).

What conditions does the helmet treat?

The Weber LED helmet has been used to improve and help treat the following health conditions (and more!):

Some of the symptoms that can improve with the regular use of this helmet include:

  • Decreased brain fog

  • Enhanced focus

  • Improved speech

  • Better cognitive function

  • Boost in mood

  • Enhanced Fine motor skills

  • And more!

How often do I have to use the helmet to notice an improvement in my symptoms?

The amount of time needed to see improvement varies from patient to patient. In general, for more advanced neurodegenerative diseases, it is recommended to use it on an ongoing basis. At Simply, our goal is to provide this helmet for individuals to try out. If they find that it is beneficial in their condition, we recommend that they discuss it with their medical provider and consider purchasing one for home use on a regular basis.

While this therapy can be incredibly beneficial for a number of individuals, it may not provide the same symptom improvement for everyone. Every person is different (and the root cause of their health condition is different). Due to this, people will have varying responses. With that said, you can remain confident that even if you are not seeing some major improvement in a particular symptom profile, it is still an incredibly potent and beneficial device that is not going to harm you, but rather promote positive changes (slowed disease progression, improved oxygenation, improved cellular environment for tissue to heal, etc.).

With that said, we encourage you to try it out first. Test it, see if you like it, and then look into making that commitment to possibly buy one for home use.

FAQ:

Can children use this device?

Yes! With kids, shorter treatment times and lower intensity is needed when first starting.

Are there any side effects?

It is generally free of side-effects but there can be a feeling of 'over-activation' at the beginning. If you use the helmet in the evening, you might have a harder time falling asleep, at least at the beginning. Therefore, starting with a shorter treatment time and lower intensity can be best for sensitive individuals.

Some patients report tiredness directly after the therapy. This is often a sign of neurotoxin elimination, aka your body is detoxing and the helmet is doing its job. Make sure you get the rest you need and drink enough water. Tickling sensations and a pulsating feeling in the head area are a sign for increased blood flow and no reason for concern.

Can this be used during pregnancy?

We always suggest checking with your doctor prior to use. However, it is generally considered safe during pregnancy.

Can this treat other brain symptoms like brain fog? Can it be used to prevent disease and optimize brain function?

Yes to all the above. Any symptom that signals brain inflammation (brain fog, memory loss, headaches, difficulty focusing, post-concussion symptoms, etc.) has potential to improve with this device. In addition, the Weber LED Helmet can be used to prevent illness and optimize brain health by enhancing cognitive function through improving  oxygenation, increasing blood flow, and lowering inflammation.

Are there any contraindications?

Individuals with brain aneurysms, scalp tumors, or skin sensitivity to sunlight or artificial light should not use the device.
